INTRODUCTION

Pride and Promote Los Angeles Black Pride (PRIDE AND PROMOTE), serves as a unique networking forum not only for the African American community, but also for a plethora of people inclusive of all ethnicities, gender, and sexual orientations worldwide. Every year this organization brings together a large number of African Americans and other minority Gay, Lesbians, Bisexual, Transgender, Straight and Questioning individuals from all over the world to take in the sand and sun. Fun filled events are presented to create networking forums and increase awareness in areas such as education, social, health, and economic development.

 

Throughout the year PRIDE AND PROMOTE reach tens of thousands culturally diverse individuals through a variety of different programs and events by celebrating pride and diversity in the community. PRIDE AND PROMOTE is a constant supporter of civic organizations and participate in community reinvestment programs to demonstrate the power within the community, and the urgency of claiming and using that power.

 

 

Purpose of Organization

Pride and Promote – Los Angeles Black Pride supports the increase of Leadership, self-esteem, and economic empowerment of Black and other LGBT/SGL communities of color. The goal is to support our community by confronting stigma, develop emerging leaders, provide informational resources, and networking opportunities, thereby creating viable and sustainable Communities

 

Mission Statement

Pride and Promote – Los Angeles Black Pride is dedicated to uniting Black Lesbian, Gay/Same-Gender loving, Bisexual and Transgender persons and other Communities of color and our allies.

 

We strive to celebrate who we are as a diverse community and our Achievements, educate others about the tragedies and triumphs of our heritage and advocate for the causes and concerns that impact us.

Synopsis

Pride and Promote Los Angeles Black Pride Inc, Began it’s history in the summer 0f 1988 with a group of young friends in their 20′s who yearned to form alliance with people like them, celebrate their existence in a safe place away from the pressures of the society decided to come together for a day of planned activities, celebrating and socializing at the beach. Since then, the organization as has grown into one of the most widely attended pride celebrations in the U.S.

 

Today the Organization is diversifying to represent a more Larger Racial, Cultural and ethnic Reach, Creating events to Educate, Advocate and Celebrate the LGBT communities existence

 

The organization brings together members of the same-gender loving (SGL) lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, their friends, allies and supporters in celebration of being both Black and gay. producing quality, culturally sensitive and unique events in Los Angeles County that reflects the pride of the community and its contribution to the larger Los Angeles community. By doing this, strengthening a sense of community among the men and women in Los Angeles.
