Dear Friend,
25 years ago and beyond, you pried opened doors that are no longer locked and started conversations our future has to finish. You’ve been there and done that and as a younger generation we are forever grateful.
Your energy, faith and determination made dark days brighter for those who walk the path you paved. Before we were able to stand up for our rights on social media, you shouted out and stood up for our well being in the flesh while facing dangerous situations we no longer deal with today.
The wisdom, spirit and efforts of our Elders makes us who we are today, his-story and her-story is the root of our story. Hearing your tales of triumph and tragedy helps us to understand who we are and where we are going.
We are proud to be an LGBT community of color, because you always and forever will teach us how to be and what it means to be. We know that you didn’t just wave a flag, you fought with your fists in some cases, practiced peace and stood on the front lines at the risks of your lives.
Even if the tone and volume of your voice has changed, the strength and power of your words remains the same and needs to heard.
The Board of Los Pride and Promote invites you to have Brunch with us during the 25th Anniversary weekend of Los Angeles Black Pride. We anticipate the 2nd annual Elders Brunch will once again be a moving and emotional experience reflecting on how far we’ve come as a community and what we can do as we move forward.
If you are 55 years or older, please register to join us on Sunday, July 7th from 11am to 2pm at the Hilton Los Angeles Int’l Airport. Due to limited seating and high demand, sign up early so you don’t miss this one of a kind event paying tribute to people who were there first.
